Frequently Asked Questions

What does it mean to drive dedicated?

-

Driving dedicated means hauling freight for one primary customer on consistent routes. You’ll run the same areas each week, giving you predictable miles, schedules, and home time you can count on.

What’s the biggest advantage of dedicated driving?

+

Consistency. You’ll know your routes, your schedule, and your pay—making it easier to plan your week and your life at home.

How often will I be home?

+

That depends on the customer and delivery area, but most dedicated drivers enjoy daily or weekly home time and set days off each week.

Is pay more predictable for dedicated drivers?

+

Yes. Because routes are steady and customer freight is consistent, you can count on reliable miles and steady paychecks every week.

Who supports dedicated drivers on the job?

+

You’ll have a 24/7 operations team—most often right at your main customer location—plus daily interaction with U.S. Xpress staff who know you personally and are there to help with scheduling, maintenance, or any issue on the road.

What’s it like working with one customer?

+

Dedicated drivers build strong, face-to-face relationships with their customer’s team. Over time, you’ll get to know their expectations, routes, and schedules—making every trip smoother and more efficient.

What type of freight will I be delivering?

+

You’ll primarily haul retail grocery (RG) and consumer packaged goods (CPG) freight for some of the nation’s largest and most trusted brands. These routes typically involve consistent, high-demand products—everything from everyday household essentials to store-ready grocery items—giving you steady miles, predictable schedules, and reliable freight year-round.

Are there military veteran programs or special incentives?

+

Veterans benefit from dedicated military programs, such as the Post 9/11 GI Bill® Apprenticeship and Advanced Rate of Pay options, recognizing military experience and offering faster earning growth.

Drivers can earn trip pay based on a calculation of dispatched miles that ranges from $.73 to $.76 cpm depending on route and experience.

Bonus payouts subject to qualifications. Ask a Recruiter for details.

All CDL Drivers must be registered through Clearinghouse per the FMCSA.
